Microsoft stops free Windows 10 upgrade

As of 29 July 2016, Microsoft will no longer offer a free Windows 10 upgrade and will no longer send notifications for a free upgrade to the new operating system. From this date on, the upgrade will not be free.

The upgrade notification will be withdrawn and removed from computers, which may take a while, Microsoft told Winbeta, as the notification is installed on a lot of computers.

The Windows 10 upgrade is free for Windows 7, 8 and 8.1 users. Those looking to upgrade after 29 July will have to pay for Windows 10.

The estimated retail price for Windows 10 Pro is €279, excluding VAT. We suggest you save yourself the unnecessary costs and upgrade your operating system before 29 July.
