Recently we had the pleasure of visiting one of our MXSuite users, the impressive clipper Stad Amsterdam (City Amsterdam). The vessel, featuring a crew of 30, is 76 meters long with 31 sails and a total area of 2200 m2. It was docked right next to the National Maritime Museum in Amsterdam, a beautiful location! We didn’t quite know why we were invited, apart from some requests we were working on, but we were excited with the opportunity to meet aboard the ship. Once we arrived, the reason for our visit became clear. Besides discussing the work in progress, they wanted to share with us how happy they are with not only our software but also our customer care. ‘Whenever we have a question, you come up with a solution,’ they said with a smile.
And yes, our customer care is one of our core focus points and something we are proud of! We help our clients to find a solution, even if that solution doesn’t exist yet. For example, Stad Amsterdam encountered a flaw in their work and rest hours reports from MXSuite, because they deal with very specific regulations. We investigated those regulations and integrated them into our software, making sure that they – and other MXSuite users – can now benefit from fully correct reports in this area.
MXSuite Crewing with Navigator Port
Stad Amsterdam uses MXSuite in conjunction with Navigator Port by DNV. They use the MXSuite Crewing module to generate crewing lists to keep track of who is aboard when they enter a harbor, the necessary documentation, and work and rest hours. At their request, we created an export functionality to easily export the crewing list and documentation to the passage planning module in Navigator Port. A great combination, providing Stad Amsterdam with ease and flow in their day-to-day operation.
Easily print crew identification
Another MXSuite Crewing feature you see aboard the vessel is crew identification. Every crew member carries an id card, with their picture, name, and function printed easily and directly from MXSuite.
About Stad Amsterdam
The clipper Stad Amsterdam is at anchor at the National Maritime Museum until 15 August and is open for visits with a museum ticket. Crafted in the late nineties to honor Dutch history, the recently renovated ship is a perfect combination of 19th-century details and 21st-century luxury, with 14 luxury cabins and a spacious dining room, and an outdoor bar. Stad Amsterdam sails as a passenger ship under the Dutch flag, providing among other things day trips, adventurous sailing trips throughout Europe and luxury cruises in the Caribbean, and hosting corporate events.
